All our food is homemade by Julie, with (very) small contributions from Kim. We have hot and cold food, many different salads and lovely cakes! All our food is vegetarian, and most is vegan. We try to source ethically produced ingredients and use local businesses.
We have tried to create a cafe that we would like to spend time in. We spent a long time choosing the colour scheme and various bits of furniture. We have sometimes used recycled materials and have often ordered from small, independent businesses. Lots of good things on Etsy and eBay!
Most of our food is vegan, including our homemade chocolate cake and lemon cake! We always provide non-dairy alternatives when applicable.
As well as eating in, we offer grab and go served in recyclable or compostable containers, with wooden forks. We are also happy to prepare food to order.
When we decided to open a cafe, the first thing that Kim started to do was to make a playlist! Its great to work while you listen to some of your favourite music! When you come into the cafe you will see music- themed posters, (some with a bit of a twist!) There are also colourful film and book-themed pictures.
Sage is currently displaying original art from local artists. There are large, screen-printed posters, designed by John Angus promoting concerts at Lancaster University in the late 1970s. There are also unique ink portraits and landscapes by Martin Nesbitt.
We are now taking orders online. While we are in Tier 4, there will be a restricted menu. We will deliver on set days - see the Online Orders page for more details.
We provide free wifi for our customers, and there are several charging points in the cafe.
We give 10% discount for both students and over 65s. Public sector workers also receive 10% discount.
